Convoco a todos los Rolandos del mundo a boicotear este juego. Ok, eso es solo una broma. Pero honestamente nunca he pensado que un nombre como ‘Rolando’ tenga mucho pegue como nombre de juego o brand name.

Bueno, ahora que le presto atención al juego, no está tan mal el sistema de generación de caminos al tocar la pantalla.

And this is a neat function I’d like to implement when I buy my own domain name, and start using something like Movable Type to edit my blog. The application, you’ve guessed, is using the function as an instant preview of comments… like El Oso already has.

I didn’t do a thing today, but yesterday, while at García, I read two books. I decided to read a mystery novel: “The Dead of Jericho” starring Inspector Morse (this character has its own popular television series).

The other book I read was “The Song of Roland“… well, actually a version in Spanish (El Cantar de Roldán), which was originally translated from modern French (La Chanson de Roland), and that modern French version had originally been translated from medieval French. I’m hoping not much got lost in translation.

It is important to note that Roland, in the Spaniard’s spanish, is written as Roldán, or Orlando, or Rotolando, or Rolando.

After finishing the book, I read the Historical facts on Roland,

So, if you notice carefully, I pointed out the words ‘joven bizarro’.

Now, I wanted to link to a proper definition of the word ‘bizarro’. I would’ve sworn that “bizarro” meant “extraño” (weird). But the proper definition of bizarro is “Valiente, Gallardo” (Brave, Gallant). Bizarro might also mean ‘splendid’; Gallardo could also mean ‘dandy’. There is a wide gap from ‘brave and gallant’ to ‘splendid dandy’ — something apparently gets lost in translation.

So… I have believed most of my life in a lie: Bizarro means brave, gallant… not weird or strange.

There is an article (in spanish, unfortunately) that writes about the evolution of the meaning of some words.

Pero, no obstante esa definición, muchas personas usan el adjetivo bizarro con el significado de algo raro, extraño, sobre todo referido a persona, en el sentido de un individuo torvo, que oculta sus sentimientos, que no inspira confianza. También puede ser una actividad (una fiesta, por ejemplo) en la que ocurren hechos impropios, inesperados y desagradables. E igualmente se emplea para calificar algo o a alguien de extravagante, extraño o fuera de lo común.

Darnit… I wanted my predecesors to be weird, not friggin’ brave. All in all, this has been a learning experience to me.
